Why does this web site
exist? Well, we immensely enjoy wines and, in
particular, blended wines, frequently preferring
them over single varietals. We discovered that a
blend frequently was better than its components. We
got the idea to develop this site one evening in
2006 while browsing the internet looking for
information about blended wines. Finding none, we
did more research and discovered that indeed there
was virtually no information on the internet about
blended wines. So, we decided to develop our own
site to share with other blended wine enthusiasts.
At the time of this writing,
early 2008, we have been working on our idea and
implementation for 18 months. Our hope is that we
can make our blended wine site sufficiently
informative that blended wine lovers, such as
ourselves, will like what they see and return often
to obtain more information about blended wines.
We have lived in Southern
California for 25 years, visiting wineries and
tasting many wines at the wineries, in our home with
friends and at wine tasting events held annually
around California. In early 2006 we retired from
our real jobs as computer and accounting executives,
and have recently visited a significant wine
producing area in North Carolina - the Yadkin
Valley. The history of wine in North Carolina
stretches back to the 17th century, and
by the mid-19th century, North Carolina
was the leading state in the union for wine
production. Just a little trivia!
Obviously, that has changed
significantly. There are over 5,900 wineries in the
U.S. with California having over 2,600, Washington
over 400 and Oregon over 350. The rest are spread
among the remaining states. No matter what state you
live in, there are wines and wineries to discover.
We plan to add other
significant wine states and also countries, such as
Argentina, Australia, Chile, France, Italy and
Spain, which will add many additional grape
varieties and unique blended wines.
Now that we are retired, we work half-time on the
development and improvement of this site. (Our
daily decision is which half of the day to do the
work!)
So, we hope you enjoy and come back often.
Respectfully,
Ada
